I really want to tell the young people with disabilities that it is ok to be different and to educate other people about disability awareness. Because we have a disability, life is not always easy. What I do it really well is have a positive attitude, and I keep rolling through life. We can't worry about what we can't do, instead we can focus on what we can do.
For me to get a job was a lot of work. Over the summer of 2022 I was with my mom and my counselor sitting in my front driveway trying to figure out employment now that I was out of college. My counselor said why don't I go back to my office and figure out an idea of what we could use your help with there. I figured out my resume and cover letter with my counselor and he told the right people at the office that began to think where I could fit in and help out. I sent over all the materials and they called me to say we'd like to interview you. I interviewed and it was great. I got the job!
Then I had to get fingerprinted because it is a government job. This took months. The first place was in the Bronx. I waited for my turn and they took the prints. As me and my mom got home they called to say the prints didn't register so we had to reschedule and my brother Aiden took me to Garfield to get it redone. Then I had to get a tuberculosis shot. Finally they had everything they needed to process a background check. That took months. Finally I was approved and began working.

I am an Ambassador for the CTC Academy where I went to school and co-host their annual gala and speak at events.
I spoke to the elementary students along side my Occupational Therapist about disability awareness. I spoke to different grades at different times so I could make it age appropriate. I used the book Ricki the Rock to demonstrate my point.
Similar to Franklin Elementary, I spoke about disability awareness to the students. I attended this elementary school when I was in Kindergarten so it was special to be back at my old stomping ground.
My first speaking engagement was at Luther Lee Elementary School. This was on a smaller scale since it was only one classroom, but it was successful and the kids were receptive which is why I do what I do.
